King Bhekuzulu College, right from its inception in 1965 was founded on the noble idea of nurturing leadership for Royal princes (Abantwana baseNdlunkulu) and the sons of the traditional chieftaincy. Developments in the country later saw it open up its doors to the wider community. The whole environment including the curriculum was technically engendered or tailor-made for leaders of the nation hence our motto has ever been “SIFUNDELA UKUHOLA ISIZWE” (LEARNING TO LEAD THE NATION).

Whilst the majority of the learner population by then was just traditionally in the school in preparation for ascendency into chieftaincy as family genealogies had predestined, it is noteworthy that they also graduated in trade and management courses to dominate in various spheres of the economy. Such a prestige and elite status has continued 50 years down the line to inspire greatness in whoever gets through the school and in whatever capacity.

Our vision to strive for excellence in producing self-reliant, multi-skilled and competent graduates has helped to unify our efforts towards one common goal of educative teaching and learning. Principles underpinning our vision are effective working, co-operation with stakeholders, full utilization of educators’ expertise, putting God first Batho Pele, constitutional mandate, role modelling and value for money and time. We are proud of the vibrancy, dedication, sound leadership and strategic direction visible in our human resource at all levels and which, undoubtedly, our predecessors left as legacy for us to firmly and supremely uphold Our historical connection with Zulu Royalty, close proximity to town and Mthashana FET satellites, a good boarding facility have all created an enabling environment for the school to continue to grind quality matric results as past records clearly indicate.
