DEPARTMENTAL HEAD of LANGUAGES

At KBZ we offer English as First Additional Language. It should be noted that English has become a global language ad teaching English as a foreign language has increasingly become a universal demand.

One should look back at the language in education I the context of our history. The Apartheid government used education as one of its primary tools to enforce separate development and to systematize the deep discrimination against the majority of our population.

Coming back to 2022, we would like to acknowledge the English Academy for the tirelessly work they have put through to ensure that all learners practice English as a medium of instruction.

Once more, 2022 has been another difficult year with load-shedding affecting debates schedules.

Despite the load-shedding disturbances we tried to work tirelessly to encourage our learners to e actively involved in debates from the beginning of the year. As a norm, a series of debates were hosted for GET phase, where learners competed on different topics.

The competitions were extremely competitive, and the audience were thrilled at the way the debaters handled themselves in terms of confidence, use of language and the way they argued their points.

We rounded of our debates with an awarding ceremony that was held on the 31st of October 2022. All the participants were awarded. It was a touchy and beautiful day for the English Academy and our learners.

Lastly King Bhekuzulu staff and the SMT, a “thank you’’ is not enough. Thank you for your time and your effort. Thanks for all the times you helped us, motivated us, we couldn’t have made it without your support and assistance.

To Mr S. Dlamini, Mr N.S. Malunga, I feel so blessed to be working with you. You challenge us every day and I honestly don’t believe we would be where we are if it weren’t for the two of you. I deeply appreciate everything you did to help our future leaders. Even learners were impressed by the way you inspire them to do their best
